While not required, the Student Notebook is highly recommended. This notebook is specifically designed to work with the textbook. It has space for students to take their personal notes and record responses to all of the On Your Own questions. Study guide questions are also included with space for answers, and a section that includes all of the textbook experiments is there to ensure students get the most out of this lab credit course.
There is also material found only in the Student Notebook that walks students through the entire process of designing and performing their own experiments. This includes determining a problem they wish to understand, formulating a hypothesis, devising a test with both dependent and independent variables as well as a control group, performing their test, analyzing their data, reporting their results, and deciding if their hypothesis is validated.
